Post Christmas Thank You

Ho Ho Ho!

Wow!  What a wonderful and safe flight we had this year.  No major problems around the entire world flight!

I want to thank so many of you for the yummy treats you left for me, the reindeer, the elves, and Mrs. Claus - Thank you SO, SO, SO MUCH!

We all hope you enjoy your gifts and we are so happy that we could once again make our flight around the world safely.  The reindeer were just spectacular and so quick - and thanks once again to all of the hard-working elves who are now taking some much deserved time off to spend with their loved ones.

Christmas Eve Has Arrived!

Ho Ho Ho!

Here it is - the big day is about to unfold!  The sleigh has been loaded, the reindeer are all so very excited, the elves are just finishing the little touches, and Mrs. Claus is providing us with another wonderful feast!

We begin our flight around the world with a prayer - we need all the help we can gather.  We always ask for a special Hand of safety to be with us during our travels and we are ever so grateful for that.  After the group prayer, one little elf will begin a solo of "Silent Night" after which everyone one of us with moistened eyes will join along.  All is calm at that moment; there is a heavenly peace!  It is remarkable to think that shepherds did quake at the sight and signs they beheld at the birth of the baby Jesus!

That little baby is the reason for the season.  Enough said . . .

We'll see you soon!

The Ultimate Question

Ho Ho Ho!

We are certainly closing in on our departure time, aren't we?  I have been checking the weather maps around the world and I find that the number of predicted storms we need to deal with this year are a pretty typical amount and they pose no unusual threats to our magical flight around the world on Christmas Eve!

You know, every year I receive a number of letters asking if I am real. I think it is safe to say that Santa is as real as you believe him to be - if you choose NOT to believe, you are missing out on something that IS universally moving, and for that, I feel truly sad for you.  How do you deal with the concept of gravity? . . .

I can tell you I am real!  It's a fact.  I could not write to you like this if I wasn't real.  A good portion of the Christmas magic would be lost if I was not real.  There will always be those that doubt my very existence, but here I am - I promise.  We'll discover where your beliefs have sided in the next few days.

Reindeer Request

Ho Ho Ho!

The Reindeer Barn is just filled with activity this close to Christmas Eve!  All of the reindeer are in good health and in good shape and ready to dedicate themselves to a safe flight around the world this week!

I have a special request from Prancer and Blitzen (they asked for me to put the word out for them, so I said I would be happy to assist them) - Rather than leaving them cookies this year, they asked for any snack that you may provide for them to be either carrots or reindeer chow.

They have been trying to eat a little better and feel like carrots and reindeer chow would help them keep their energy levels maximized for the long flight. I can't say that I blame them - they are always doing their best for me!  They are magnificent flying animals . . .  We really  appreciate your helpfulness with this special request!

Santa's Big Gift Bag

Ho Ho Ho!

Well, here we are just hours away from our flight around the world!

The elves have brought out Santa's gift bags and are preparing to fill them with glorious Christmas gifts - maybe even one or two special gifts for you!  The gift bags are huge and very durable.  They need to be durable to fly around the Earth and to squeeze down chimneys, and to withstand the elements of nature.  They are stored each year between Christmas and New Year's Day after they have had a chance to be cleaned and dried out.

Always Excitement

Ho Ho Ho!

I hope you had a glorious weekend and that you are pretty well finished with your Christmas shopping!

People ask me all the time "Santa, do you get nervous that something might go wrong on Christmas Eve?"  I usually reply "There is always something to get excited about on Christmas Eve, but no, I never get nervous!"  We have been doing this for so many years that when something out of the ordinary does occur, we are usually prepared to handle it quickly.  Why be nervous when we have prepared and successfully delivered for so many years?

I hope you are as excited about this week's visits as we all are!

The best in behavior results in the best of gifts.

One Week Away

Ho Ho Ho!

Christmas day is only one week away!  Are you as excited about that as we are here at the North Pole?

We took another practice flight the other evening down along the Pacific Coast into Mexico, then back up through the Southern and Midwest states, into Canada then back across the prairies and home to the North Pole.

Everything went well with the exception of the orange trimming along the way.  What orange trimming am I speaking of?  I will tell you - as we lowered our altitude and flew closer to the orange trimming, it turns out that many communities have trimmed the roads with orange barrels and orange-striped barricades due to construction projects that are ongoing!

I prefer to fly well above the multitude of orange trimming that we witnessed. I don't know how you folks deal with that day after day.  Seems to me that the orange trimming acted like a huge magnet for cars, trucks, and buses . . .

The Fantastic Mrs. Claus

Ho Ho Ho!

"Merry Christmas!" - what a wonderful greeting that is!

I want to let Mrs. Claus know how much she adds to our lives here at the North Pole.  She works tirelessly and so unselfishly as she tends to the needs of everyone else, yet she does it all so pleasantly and without as much as a sharp word.

All this week she has been taking meals in to a great neighbor that hasn't been feeling very well and has spent some time making sure that our neighbor has been looked after and has been as comfortable as possible.  Mrs. Claus seems to always give of herself without reserve and she needs to realize that we all love her and we applaud her actions each and every day even though our thoughts are not usually verbalized as they should be.

Is there a 'Mrs. Claus' in your life that you thank and recognize?  Or are you the 'Mrs. Claus' in the lives of others that was discussed just now?  From the bottom of our sometimes silent hearts, know this, Mrs. Claus, wherever you may exist - We applaud your efforts, we benefit from your presence, and we will try to be better at helping out and showing our appreciation for you - but most of all, we love you and want you to know that!

North Pole Activity

Ho Ho Ho!

Great day my friend!  The North Pole is so full of activity right now - the reindeer are exercising and working together so that we can fly without a hitch all over the world next week.  The elves, of course, are still cranking out many beautiful gifts in the Toy Shop while others are wrapping and stacking the gifts for delivery.

I am checking my list and taking care of the mail.  Mrs. Claus has been doing a ton of cooking and baking for everyone here at the North Pole as well as assisting with one of our great neighbors who hasn't been feeling too well this week.  Malcolm the mailman has been diligent as always in taking care of all the North Pole mail.  This place seems to work like a well orchestrated machine, everyone accomplishing much every day!

I would like to know how things are with you - are you ready for Christmas next week?  Are you ready and waiting for Christmas to arrive or are you still thinking about what to do?  Either way, there isn't much time left!

Ten Days Until Christmas And Counting

Ho Ho Ho!

Can you believe we are only ten days away from Christmas already?

One thing I have no control over is the clock - and believe you me, if we didn't spend our time wisely, we would not be making our flight around the world each year!  I think of time as a gift and we can spend it any which way we want.  Sometimes we need to spend our time with others or spend time with our pets and our other animals or spend it doing good things - at other times we need to spend some time on ourselves so that we can make plans, gather our thoughts, or even just relax.

What do you think is your best use of time?  What is your favorite way to spend your time?  Feel free to share your thoughts - we may learn from your timely thoughts . . .

Just Thinking . . .

Ho Ho Ho!

I was just thinking - What makes Christmas special to you?

You know, over the years, things have evolved somewhat.  I can remember when folks were pretty content and very thankful for warmth, shelter, and food for their bodies.  Many new items have now been placed on the list that includes electronics, games, toys, and the like.  Fewer requests are being made these days for what I call the necessities of life.

We are very lucky to live at a time when we are so fortunate as a society.  Let me just say this - I have seen the times when the bounties of life were scarce. It would be wise for each of us to put a little away just in case . . .

Remember to enjoy your friends, family, and loved ones; they are your companions through all the years.

A Dozen Days Now

Ho Ho Ho!

As I look at my December Calendar, I can see we are only twelve days away from Christmas!  When I look at the Toy Shop, all I can see is millions of gifts, each one wrapped just perfectly for our exciting Christmas Eve flight around the world.  I can hardly wait for Christmas - How about you?

How are you doing with your gift wrapping this season?  Isn't it fun to keep a secret - to know what is inside the wrapping paper?  I sometimes giggle out loud when I know what's in there, but the person getting the gift doesn't know.  And the wrapping paper is just so festive!  One time I forgot what gift I wrapped up, then I had a brain cramp trying to remember - but when I finally did, I wrote out the gift tag right away so I wouldn't forget again.

Malcolm The Mailman & Other Helpers

Ho Ho Ho!

Good day my friends!  I just answered a knock at the door from Malcolm the mailman - he arrived with nineteen and a half huge mail bags full of letters for me today!  Malcolm is always very polite and such a great helper - he will soon deliver all of our beautiful home made Christmas cards that we finished just last night.

I really enjoy receiving mail from boys and girls around the world.  Many times I receive a list that informs me of a few gifts that would make someone very happy to find on Christmas morning.  Sometimes I hear from a mom or dad that are having a rough time - they most always ask for my help in taking care of the needs of their children.  Once in a while, I will receive a letter from a child that asks for gifts for others instead of themselves.

Realize this - Santa does his best to help everyone he possibly can, but I also need your assistance from time to time because if you look around your part of the world, you will notice people needing a little help during the Christmas season.  Go ahead, give them a smile or some of your time or be their friend. Make them a card or a few cookies, or an ornament.

Thanks for being one of Santa's best helpers!

Family Fun Night

Ho Ho Ho!

Happy Friday!  I am so excited for our family fun night later on today - we are going to send Christmas cards to all of our close family members, dear friends, and business associates!  Most of our cards are made at home.

Each year our list seems to grow a little bit, but it is always so wonderful to wish others our genuine and most sincere thoughts of the Christmas season.  Doesn't it just make you feel warm inside to truly wish for someone else to have a Merry Christmas or Joy in their world or that they may enjoy Heavenly Peace?

A good portion of the magic of Christmas is found in wishing for the best of circumstances and choicest of blessings to be with those that we care about - and that those folks are aware of our heartfelt desires in their behalf!

How about you - aren't there special people in your life that you could send Special Greetings to?

Thoughtful Gift Idea

Ho Ho Ho!

Hello Friend!  I hope you enjoyed the past few days of questions and answers from our close followers - quite insightful, wouldn't you agree?

I have recently been giving some thought to a small gift that is very meaningful to others.  I have had requests to offer gift ideas that are affordable while remaining thoughtful.  I have an idea that is financially affordable, pleasantly thoughtful and very valuable to the recipient as well.

I would first say, more than anything, the time you spend with someone else is the most valuable gift you can provide!  We are all given the same 24 hours in a day - you could spend a portion of your time just being friends with someone that may benefit from your friendliness with them.  Look around you, the opportunities seem endless . . .

We all enjoy the time that other people invest in us, so if you choose to provide that genuine enjoyment as a gift to someone else, I can think of none better!  The sooner you spend the gift of time with someone looking for a good friend, the sooner that gift is enjoyed by both of you - that's right, it will be genuinely enjoyed by both of you!

Questions For Santa! - Part V

Ho Ho Ho!

Thanks for all of the questions, children!

Where did you come up with the idea of giving coal to bad girls and boys? And do you still give it?

The idea of giving a lump of coal was not Santa’s idea. It was once given when most folks burned coal in their fireplaces to stay warm – it was meant to say “I would like to help you stay comfortable and warm.” In Scotland, it is still given between friends around New Year’s to represent ‘good luck’ in the coming new year to the recipients.

What’s his favorite cookie??

Santa’s favorite is the one you set out for him – he likes them all!

How does Santa get into our house without a Chimney? (From Jared in TN)

Santa has a few different ways to get in a home with no chimney, it’s not a problem for me! I will share 3 different ways to get in without a chimney and keep the other ways secret for now.
First – Some families prefer to have an adult wait up and let me in at a door, any door. They usually help me with the gifts when that happens.
2nd – I sometimes find a key has been left out so that I can take care of my responsibilities using the house key, when I am done, I put the key back.
3rd – I also have a key that will get me into ANY home on Christmas Eve. I keep it right on my big belt on Christmas Eve so I don’t forget it back at the North Pole!

Questions For Santa! - Part IV

Ho Ho Ho!

And they write . . .

If a child is bad will he still give them presents?

Santa knows that everyone makes mistakes and everyone deserves a 2nd chance.  Extra love from others is the key.

Ethan wants to know why Santa doesn’t visit his Jewish friend Julian?

Santa respects the beliefs and wishes of all families.  Julian is considered to be a very good friend of Santa!

Why his beard don’t catch on fire when he comes down the chimney?

Santa usually does not come down fiery chimneys – it isn’t safe!

Does Santa prefer oatmeal or chocolate chip cookies???

Santa prefers chocolate chip cookies on even years and oatmeal cookies the other years – he likes them all!

Does he ever have to stop and take a bathroom break? How does he do it without getting caught?

Santa takes the breaks when needed – the nearest “Palace of Necessity” is usually close.  Not many folks can see the rooftops of taller buildings, you know . . . so we land there and use the stairs to the nearest available facilities inside that building.

Questions For Santa! - Part III

Ho Ho Ho!

The constituents continue to write . . .

I want to know how he fits all the toys for all the kids in the world in that one bag?
When the bag is empty, Santa refills it!

How does he know what to bring to a little girl when she is born on Christmas day? (From Jacqueline in Colorado – born Christmas Day 2006)
What a special birthday and a very special gift you are to your family, Jacqueline!  Santa deals with Christmas requests and not very much with birthday requests, so if the gift is from Santa, it is a Christmas gift.  Sometimes you can tell by the wrapping paper if it is a birthday gift or a Christmas gift . . . Happy Birthday and Merry Christmas to you!

What is Mrs. Claus’ first name? (From: Suzanne in Colorado)
Mrs.

What’s the funniest thing he’s seen when coming down the chimney?
Eyeballs looking up, filling with chimney soot!

What are the strangest cookies he’s ever had?

Dandelion with seaweed cookies – needed LOTS of milk to get those down!

Does he own a bathing suit?

Yes, two! – They are both red with white trim . . .

More Questions For Santa!

Ho Ho Ho!

How does he get down chimneys?
Sometimes Santa still goes down the chimney boots first, but it depends on the gifts – sometimes other magic ways are devised!
How does he get around the whole world in one night?
That, my friend, is part of the magic of Christmas!  Some portion of the world is sleeping while you are awake!
Does he have kids?
All around the world, little one, all around the world!
Does he ever get tired of milk and cookies?
Santa loves to receive the wonderful gifts of milk & cookies (and carrots for the reindeer . . . )
Can he get me an iPad, lol?

The simple answer is: Yes, he can! lol

Questions For Santa!

Ho Ho Ho!

I promised to share with you some questions that children have recently asked me - here are just a few:

Gabrielle B. asks- I have a 9 week old baby brother, how will you know what he wants for Christmas, he can’t talk yet?

Brother can communicate without talking – All he wants is to hear mommy’s heartbeat and feel her warmth while being held close to her.  He also wants to feel the love of his family and to be a part of the family.  Did you know that baby brother is a little miracle and a gift TO your family this year?  It’s true!
Hunter C. asks- My grandma told us bout the presents you left her when she was little, just how old are you?
I suppose I am quite old, just a few hundred years older than grandma.  Grandma was on my Nice List way back then and still is today!
Elijah M. asks- How come you don’t bring me everything that I asked for?
Trust me – You would be very unhappy if you received EVERYTHING you asked for!  You would have little to look forward to.  Hope is essential for the human spirit!
How old is he?  Where was he born?
Santa is a few hundred years old & was born inside the Arctic Circle near the North Pole.
How many elves work at the North Pole?

All of the elves at the North Pole work hard creating gifts for you – there are so many elves moving so fast that we have a difficult time counting them all!

Reindeer Vision . . .

Ho Ho Ho!

We are so happy today - all of the reindeer are going to be visited by Dr. Seemore - our North Pole optometrist!  Dr. Seemore helps all of the reindeer to, well, see more.

The good doctor works well with animals, helping them to enjoy everyday life here at the North Pole.  I'll bet you never thought about this, but it is very important for safety reasons that all of the reindeer are able to have clear vision on our around the world flight that is coming Christmas Eve.

The doctor looks in their big, brown eyes with a little flashlight, then shows them pictures on a white wall in the reindeer barn of carrots and berries to see if they react to the pictures - if they paw the ground or bob their heads a little bit, we know they can see well and they recognize the item shown!

Thank you Dr. Seemore!  You provide a wonderful service to our community.

We'll see you my friend . . .

Welcome To Wednesday!

Ho Ho Ho!

Can you believe that we are already in the middle of the week - yes sir, it's Wednesday!  As we get closer and closer to Christmas Eve, the time seems to go faster and faster - It is almost beyond belief!

We still have many supplies arriving on a daily basis and the Toy Shop is really producing some very fine gifts this year, even better than in past years!  I think the difference this year is the attitude of our elves - each and every one of them works diligently to produce gifts that are thoughtful, useful, and of good value.

I just recently requested a special gift to be crafted especially for you. As you know, you will need to be on your very best behavior to find out what it is the elves have helped to create.  I will say this much . . .  this Christmas you will treasure this gift more than the others!

New Snow!

Ho Ho Ho!

Hello my special friend!  I woke up early this morning to find a new blanket of snow covering us here at the North Pole - Oh how I love fresh snow!

The new snow reminds me of an artist's canvas - the canvas is ready for the art work to begin!  Our little elf artists began right away today by firing up their shovels, plows and snowblowers, then they carved fresh lines in the snow that revealed the underlying sidewalks, driveways, and roads!

It is so beautiful when we are blessed with snow - when it melts in the spring time, we will have moisture without rain.  That moisture will help us when we plant our crops and gardens, but for now, the snow provides absolute beauty for each of us!

Goodbye for now -

Monkey Tails

Ho Ho Ho!

Last time we had a little chat, I was being called away to the Toy Shop. I learned that one of our most important conveyor belts had stopped and none of the new toys could move along to the shipping area - quite intense!

As soon as I arrived at the Toy Shop the elves informed me that the issue had been diagnosed and fixed!  It turns out that one of the safety switches for the conveyor belt was turned off by accident when a brand new stuffed toy monkey got his tail caught on the safety switch!  That's right, the stuffed monkey was traveling along the conveyor belt with his little twisted tail hanging over the edge of the belt - when the monkey tail passed the safety switch, it moved the switch to safe mode and shut down the entire shipping line.

Our traveling monkeys now have their tails located in a much better spot on the conveyor system so that we don't have any other little monkey tail incidents!  I guess it's all kind of humorous when you think about it!

Less Than 30 Days Now!

Ho Ho Ho!

It was sure special to enjoy the company of so many family members and friends yesterday!  We were discussing just how fast Christmas Eve seems to be approaching - Isn't it extremely exciting for you?  It certainly is for me!

The elves in the Toy Shop are working very quickly now to get all the toys made in time for Christmas and the reindeer are getting in tip-top shape for our worldwide flight!  After a very peaceful Thanksgiving holiday yesterday at the North Pole, the pace has hastened today and everything is in high production mode!

How about you - are you preparing for Christmas yet?  Some folks are probably just getting started; a few are nearly done with their preparations, and then some others, well - they don't have a clue just yet as to what they are going to do!  I hope you are at least making your lists and checking them twice - that's what I do!

Happy Thanksgiving Day!

Ho Ho Ho!

Well it is early here at the North Pole and it is the day that we show our gratitude and give thanks to God for blessing us with so much in our lives!

Mrs. Claus has already started preparations in the kitchen this morning, and while I work here at my desk, I can smell the sweet aroma of freshly baked cinnamon rolls and some pies as well!  We usually see quite a few friends and of course have the elves over for our feast of thanksgiving - we are so grateful for so many things!

Later on, we will have our Thanksgiving Day meal and help with the cleanup - that is a treat by itself, helping each other with the chores!  When we are done with that, Mrs. Claus and I will turn off the lamps and sit together in front of our well-lit Christmas tree.  We take turns pointing out each specific light on the tree and we tell each other why we are thankful for some special blessing that each light represents.  All in all, we always have plenty of lights on the tree and plenty of things that we are so thankful for - it is a fun and much anticipated tradition.

Have you done something like this or have another tradition that you would like to share with me?  Feel free to respond - I'd love to learn from you . . .

Lockhart The Locksmith

Ho Ho Ho!

I want to tell you about one of the most skillful elves we have here at the North Pole, Lockhart the locksmith!  Lockhart is someone that helps me in such an enormous way that you need to hear his story.

Every year, I receive letters from children that live in homes with no chimney - they are very concerned that Santa will not be able to visit them as a result.  This is where Lockhart has become so valuable to you and me.

Lockhart has a very special responsibility to use his skills in crafting a one-of-a-kind Santa Key that assures each of you around the world that I can visit your home on Christmas Eve.  Lockhart has designed this magical key to work everywhere I need it!  Isn't Lockhart a talented little elf?  I wear the magic Santa Key on my big belt every Christmas Eve so I don't forget it back at the North Pole - thank you so very much, Lockhart!  You are the best!

An Evening Test Flight Near You . . .

Ho Ho Ho!

It sure is brisk outside over much of the North American continent!

I had the pleasure of taking the reindeer on another test flight last night, covering all of Canada and the United States!  We dashed down from the North Pole and quickly covered Canada from the Yukon Territory and British Columbia across the Nunavut Territories then down to Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland.

We soon found ourselves heading south along the U.S. East Coast until we flew over the warmth of Florida and then we headed northwest and then west until we had flown over nearly every state and province on the map!  We even found a very nice field in Nebraska for Donner, Blitzen, and the other reindeer to stop for a snack!  It was fun to fly with them all - they are so familiar with the area that I hardly needed to steer them the entire evening.

We are planning our Christmas Eve flight with you in mind - are you looking forward to our visit as well?

Thanksgiving Is Coming Soon

Ho Ho Ho!

It is certain that Thanksgiving Day will be here in just a few days in the United States! If you live in Canada you know Thanksgiving Day was celebrated last month. Just think about that word, Thanksgiving - It means that we are giving thanks to God for all that we have and enjoy!

The Pilgrim settlers gave thanks nearly 400 years ago with a large harvest feast. The tradition of a day of Thanksgiving has continued through the years and many families go to great lengths and make many sacrifices to observe this special day.

What are some traditions that your family holds dear for Thanksgiving Day? Do you sometimes travel to other destinations to be with family and friends? Some families serve others in various settings. Many families have traditional meals of turkey with other side dishes - what are some of your favorite meal ideas?

It seems like quite a few pies are consumed on Thanksgiving Day - what is your favorite pie? Santa has only two favorites: cold AND warm!

Emelia The Elf Wants To Be Nicer

Ho Ho Ho!

We had so much fun last night at our Friday family night and we accomplished so much as well . . .

One of the elves, Emelia, started a very thoughtful conversation by stating that she would like to improve herself and become a nicer elf! She says she will try to hold her temper, even when life throws obstacles her way. She also will try to put herself in someone else's shoes from now on and show more empathy towards others. Emelia is also firm in her conviction of putting the needs of her friends and family members ahead of her own needs in most instances.

Some call this attitude "selflessness". We know Emelia is an awesome elf already, yet she is a great example to all of us as she chooses to become a little better all of the time.

Good luck, Emelia! We will do all we can for you to enjoy great success with your new goals . . .

Family Night at the North Pole

Ho Ho Ho!

It is Friday again already and it seems that here at the North Pole, time flies faster than a reindeer-powered sleigh on Christmas Eve!

We are getting everyone together tonight to go over our Christmas card list and to prepare our family message that we wish to share with everyone this year!

We have so many friends and so many reasons to be thankful for everything we enjoy - we will have quite a time discussing all of it and trying to put into words all the emotions that genuine friendships brings to us and how those friendships impact our daily lives. We wish nothing but the very, very best for all of our friends and their families, too!

Malcolm The Mailman

Ho Ho Ho!

We are so grateful here at the North Pole for our friend Malcolm the mailman. Malcolm has been bringing letters from children, young and old, from all over the world, to Santa and the elves! With all of the cold weather and sometimes very deep snow, it is often very hard work for Malcolm.

Some of the mail that Malcolm delivers to us has wish lists from good boys and girls just like you! All of the letters are fun to read - most of them include requests for toys or games. Many of the letters are written in behalf of others - for parents, teachers, grandparents, sisters, brothers, cousins, friends, and other family members.

What would you include in your letter to Santa? Do you know of someone else that you might mention when writing a letter to Santa? Do you know of anyone else that might remember you in their letter sent to Santa? It feels good to know you have friends and family that include you in their thoughts and it feels really, really good to include them in your thoughts and actions, wouldn't you agree? Make it a fantastic day - you are awesome, you really are!

Oh, "Thanks Malcolm"!

Another Nice List Tip For You

Ho Ho Ho!

Santa spoke about smiles yesterday and how smiles can benefit the most important muscle in your body - the heart. I would like to add another Nice List tip that involves the heart - Gratitude!

My special friend, walk with a heart full of gratitude. Be thankful for all that you have been given and for all the opportunities that you have available to you. Express your gratitude for those who care so much for you and provide so much to you and those that take an interest in your efforts and your successes! Let those people know you are grateful TO them and FOR them - just say "thank you" to each and every person that assists you along the way.

Be sure to say "thank you" to your family, friends, teachers, and even some strangers . . . but be especially sure to thank our Creator the next time the two of you chat!

"Nice List" Tuesday Tip

Ho Ho Ho!

Here it is, Tuesday, and Santa wants to share with you a helpful tip for getting on the Nice List this year and every year to come!

Did you know my favorite exercise is SMILING? Do you know that everyone in the whole, wide world smiles in the same language? That is so, so true! If you smile at someone, they will usually smile back at you - In fact, you can never give away a smile permanently because somehow, somewhere, somebody will give a smile back to you! Almost all smiles are started by another smile. Every time you smile at someone, you are sharing a gift with that person, a very beautiful gift that transcends all cultures and languages.

Always have a smile, my friend, - and remember the good it can bring to the most important muscle in your entire body - your heart!

Only 40 Days Until Christmas

Ho Ho Ho!

Well, well, well!  Santa has been looking at the Christmas calendar and discovered there are only 40 days until Christmas Day!  I can hardly wait to visit the millions of homes that celebrate the Christmas season.  I think our visit will be very worthwhile to you even if it is very, very short.

Our primary goal is to visit each and every person that is on Santa's nice list and to try not to miss anyone at all!  Sometimes we are quick to unload the gifts and do so very quietly, but you know, once in a while we make such a clatter that we wake people from their sleep and they run to the window to see what's the matter.

I hope we don't wake you from your dreamy sleep when we visit your home.

Morning Chores

Ho Ho Ho!

Hello friend!

We are getting our chores done early this morning so we can have some free time a little later today.  We started the day at the Reindeer Barn and cleaned the old straw out of the barn and replaced it with some fresh, golden- yellow straw.  All of the animals prefer to have fresh straw in the barn as it helps them to stay warm, snuggly warm, and also makes them more comfortable as they sleep.

After we finished there, we went to the Toy Shop to help the elves get some of the new toys put into packages and ready for good boys and girls around the world.  There are many, many amazingly wonderful toys that the elves work so hard to get ready - can you even imagine a toy factory that is so huge, you can't see the top or the ends of it!  Our Toy Shop here at the North Pole is just like that - huge!  Just huge!

What a wonderful time of year it is . . .

Another Friday Family Night

Ho Ho Ho!

Here it is Friday again already!  We are planning our family night for this evening and Mrs. Claus is making one of our family favorites - warm apple dumplings!  Each of those delicious apples are sprinkled with just a bit of cinnamon and sugar and wrapped in a little pie-like crust, then baked until the aroma permeates Santa's cranium!

After they are baked in the oven and cooled for a little while, Mrs. Claus will serve these warm, fresh treats with some milk in a little bowl - just perfect for a great evening of family fun!

Do you have a favorite holiday treat?  Maybe you could share a recipe with Mrs. Claus or share with us what it is and why you like it so much - we can hardly wait for your response!

The Service of Others

Ho Ho Ho!

Happy day to you, my friend!  Santa was just thinking of how many people there are in this world that are of service to others.  I am talking about those that we call on when we need a policeman, a fireman, a doctor or a nurse, those that serve to protect our freedoms, and those that serve as our instructors and teachers.

Many of the people mentioned above have even served until they have given their all, the ultimate sacrifice of their own life, for the sole benefit of their fellow citizens. We owe those folks a bit of gratitude for all that they have done and continue to do for us.

Go out of your way to thank someone that serves others as part of their duty.  Let them know that Santa says the world is a better place as a result of their service - it will make them feel warm and fuzzy - and you will feel good inside, too!  Let me know how it goes . . .

Wonderful Wednesday

Ho Ho Ho!

A wonderful Wednesday to you!  Today is wonderful because there is so much to look forward to from now until Christmas Day!  Here at the North Pole, we are getting many, many things ready for Christmas - we have our friends to think about with Christmas cards and decorations to plan for around the house as well as a festive tree to put up and all of the colorful special Christmas stockings, too!

I know I will see all of your special preparations on Christmas Eve; Santa would like for you to share with others some of the preparations that you make for the beautiful season we call Christmas.  Don't be shy now . . .

Traditional Signs of the Christmas Season

Ho Ho Ho!

Good day to you.  I wanted to visit with you for just a moment to talk about some of the traditional signs of the Christmas season.  In many areas of the world, the onset of cooler and cold weather are sure signs of the season.  In other areas, the warm weather indicates that Christmas is just about to arrive.

Some of my favorite Christmas signals are festive trees, bright and twinkly lights, shiny ornaments, more kindness is being shown to one another, fresh baked gingerbread men in the kitchen of Mrs. Claus, the Toy Shop has a huge inventory, and the reindeer are getting in shape and practicing their take-offs and landings!

I know you must have a number of traditional items that signal the Christmas season for you . . . Please share with Santa which traditional signs of the season helps you look forward to Christmas every year.  Thank you in advance for sharing!

A Mighty Fine Monday

Ho Ho Ho!

A mighty fine Monday to you!

Did you know that most people think of Monday as the beginning of a new week? It's true! Some people have had big, fun weekends and they go back to work on Mondays. Others have different schedules and Mondays are another day of the week, but not always the first day.

Santa always has his weeks scheduled for better efficiency, so Mondays are very important for getting a good start on his many plans for the week ahead. Do you know the names for ALL of the days of the week? They always go in order so if you know their names, they will repeat the same way next week, the week after that, and it goes like that forever! Learning is fun, don't you agree?

Treasure the day,

Raking Leaves

Ho Ho Ho!

It is time for chores up here at the North Pole!

Mother Nature has blessed us here with mountains of colorful leaves to enjoy through the fall. The trees are preparing for winter by shedding their leaves. When the snow begins to fall and gather on the trees, the weight of all those snow flakes is too much for the trees if the leaves are still on. After the trees drop their leaves, they can usually handle the weight of the snow.

We are spending our Saturday morning raking the leaves that have dropped from the trees. Their are tons and tons of colorful leaves that we rake each year. We see yellow leaves, red, orange and brown leaves, and sometimes we rake leaves that have many colors on them! It is fun to make a great big pile of leaves to play in before we are done with our work! Well, back to raking leaves for now.

Have a great day . . .

Friday Night Fun

Ho Ho Ho!

Santa here just stopping to say "Hello"!

We are looking forward to this evening as our North Pole family gathers together for some fun and games. Sometimes we sing songs while we prepare dinner with Mrs. Claus in the kitchen. Sometimes we gather together and discuss our many activities and share with each other some of our favorite stories. Sometimes we make crafts and small gifts that we give away to others - that is so much fun for us! And sometimes we play games with one another and just enjoy our time together.

Do you have special plans for tonight or for tomorrow? Have fun and be safe in whatever you do!

With fun on the mind,

Popcorn Popping

Ho Ho Ho!

Good Day To You!

Did you know that one of Santa's favorite treats is popcorn? That's right, popcorn! Nothing better on a crisp evening than a bowl of warm, fresh popcorn - and it's fun to make, too!

Mrs. Claus makes popcorn almost every week or two in her kitchen. She usually makes more than one batch of popcorn so we can share it with the elves and their families! Sometimes we roll it into balls and eat it that way. Have you ever eaten a popcorn ball? They are very, very tasty.

Until later,

The Musical Sounds of Merry Elves . . .

Ho Ho Ho!

I wanted to check in with you today to see how you are! I hope all is well with you and yours. Be sure to bundle up as cold weather approaches - no need to catch a cold!

While I was in the toasty-warm Toy Shop the other day, I was astonished by the beautiful sounds as the elves all worked on toys and such. The beautiful noise wasn't coming from the toys, it was coming from the elves themselves - they were singing Christmas songs! The elves have established an All Elf Choir and they were practicing their sweet songs as they were working! I thought at first that they had some special Christmas songs playing on the radio, but as I looked all around the Toy Shop, I could see that every one of our elves had a huge smile on their face and that the music was theirs, not something on the radio . . .

There are some wonderful stories told through music - I hope you will listen for those special stories, especially in Christmas songs!

Ta Ta for now,

Terrific Tuesday . . .

Ho Ho Ho!

Hello my very special friend!  It is such a beautiful Tuesday here at the North Pole - there was a nice layer of frost on the windows and when the sunlight first swept across the window panes, an amazing discovery was found!

The frost had made a beautiful picture on the glass of the windows - there were sweeping curves, and feather-like features as well as sparkles on the frosty landscape!  There were also great swirls that looked like a magical wind had blown across an imagined horizon.

After just a few minutes of admiring such a beautiful, natural masterpiece, the sun had warmed the glass just enough to cause all of that magic to disappear - the frost was replaced with clear sunshine for now. We look forward to other wonderful shows provided by Mother Nature as the winter months arrive.  Take care . . .

Another Touch Of Autumn . . .

Ho Ho Ho!

After speaking last time about counting snowflakes, Mother Nature decided to warm things up a bit and give us another little touch of autumn.  The dusting of snow has all melted for now but I know things will get downright chilly in the next few weeks.

The elves have the Toy Shop all warmed up so they can put together toys and gifts right up until the very last minute before we leave on Christmas Eve!  Hey, that rhymed - 'before we leave on Christmas Eve'.

We are looking forward to a visit to your home in just about 54 days!  Only 54 days!  Wow . . . we will be checking our nice list during that time, so remember to use your best behavior and be helpful to others!

Counting Snowflakes

Ho Ho Ho!

I was just visiting with Cupid and Comet over at the Reindeer Barn.  We were discussing how beautiful and original each snowflake is when it drops from the heavens above.  Cupid thinks snowflakes can be counted if they can be caught in a bowl, but Comet thinks they melt faster than you can count them.  What do you think?

Let me know if you have some success with snowflake counting in your neighborhood.  Many folks live in areas that don't usually include snowfall.  Santa does know this - when it snows, the new snow muffles the noises that you usually hear outdoors.  Give that a listen next time you have the chance!

Best wishes as I sign out for now . . .

Shirley the Squirrel Helps

Ho Ho Ho!

You won't believe what happened today at the Toy Shop - one of our squirrel friends, Shirley, came over to help us paint the toys that had just been built.  Shirley the squirrel had a hard time holding the paint brush in her small little hands, so guess what?  Shirley dipped her own squirrel tail in the paint and wiggled her little squirrel hips, and painted the toys in no time at all!  Can you imagine my surprise when I saw Shirley with a bright yellow tail?! I was laughing so hard that my hat almost fell right off my head.  All of the elves were laughing, too, especially when Shirley would move her hips like a dancer and brush the paint on the toys!

I hope you are having fun and enjoying the season!  Talk again soon!

Planning Our Trip . . .

Ho Ho Ho!

Good to have you visit us today!  I thought you might like to know that we have a BIG planning meeting every year about this time so that we can be absolutely positive in getting ALL of our gifts delivered on time and without any issues.

We usually begin our trip from the North Pole just after dark on Christmas Eve and get done just before daylight on Christmas Day!  We need to plan our visits very carefully so we don't miss anyone!  I'll bet you can hardly wait for our visit to your home.  We always visit you while you are fast asleep. When you wake up, you will know that we have been at your home and left a gift or two for you to enjoy!

Believe.  Always, always believe in things that are good.

A Little Dusting of Snow Overnight . . .

Ho Ho Ho!

Do you know what happened last night at the North Pole?  Mother Nature visited us and blessed us with a brand new dusting of snow!  Everything is a brilliant, beautiful white.  The trees and bushes look like Mrs. Claus has sprinkled them with powdered sugar!  The streets and sidewalks have little footprints on them as well as some long, skinny lines made by tires wheels on cars, trucks, buses, and bikes!

Well, I have to go now - we are all out shoveling to clear the streets and sidewalks of the new snow.  Take care and be on your very best behavior.  I am looking at my nice list very soon and I want to see YOUR name on it!

Big Help in the Kitchen of Mrs. Claus . . .

Ho Ho Ho!

What a beautiful day it is here at the North Pole!  There is a crispness in the air that let's me know that everything is coming together just before our big Christmas Eve flight around the world!  We can hardly wait to deliver special gifts for all of the folks that make it on Santa's Nice List this year!

I was just on my way to Mrs. Claus's kitchen to see if I could help with any kitchen chores when we last visited. I was asked to do just a couple of simple chores, which I did right away, and Mrs. Claus let me sample some delicious, warm cookies that had just come from her oven!  I just knew there was a good chance that if I helped her in the kitchen with some of the chores that I would get a nice feeling inside and maybe a little reward!  Lucky me - I got BOTH!  You should give it a try yourself, it sure is great!

We'll chat again soon . . .  Ho Ho Ho!

Toys Are Being Made Right Now!

Ho Ho Ho!

Hello my friends!  Santa was just over at the Toy Shop where the elves are very busy putting together thousands of different toys for Christmas.  They are still busy with toys that have wheels on them and are putting together some of the lovely dolls. The elves do a real nice job of packaging all of the toys so they are protected from damage and look nice when they are opened!

The different colors used on the toys are like looking at a rainbow - there are so many beautiful colors and they look so, so good as they are painted and tinted.  The elves must be extra careful once the toys are painted so they don't get the wet paint on things they shouldn't.  They also take great care to wrap the toys when the paint dries so that the beautiful painted finish remains intact and without blemishes when it leaves the Toy Shop here at the North Pole.

Thanks for checking in today - Santa is on his way to Mrs. Claus's kitchen to see if there is something he can do to help with the kitchen chores.  Maybe Mrs. Claus will have something she wants Santa to sample today!

Getting Santa's Sleigh Ready To Go!

Ho Ho Ho!

Here we are in the Reindeer Barn, looking over Santa's Sleigh to see what we need to do to be ready for our Christmas Eve flight around the world.

The elves have put a fresh coat of shiny red paint on the sleigh this year and have just waxed the ski rails to make it go lightning-fast in our travels. The comfy leather seat has been cleaned and polished and the shiny brass trim has also been polished.  We just replaced the leather straps that Santa steers the reindeer with, so no problem there.

The big rack on the rear of the sleigh has new soft sides so that none of Santa's gifts are damaged in flight.  Santa also has a shiny new buckle on his seat belt so that he can be sure to be safe while flying so fast above the Earth.

Santa is sure looking forward to the trip to your house this Christmas Eve!  Be good and we will check back here soon.  Updates are placed here frequently, so tell your family & friends where they can find out what Santa is up to!  All of us will have more and more fun as the holiday season gets closer and closer!

Great News from the North Pole Vet!

Ho Ho Ho!

Great news from the Vet at the North Pole - ALL 9 of Santa's reindeer passed their annual checkups yesterday!
Every one of our lovable reindeer received an "A" on their health report.  They work out every day to stay in shape and we even do practice take-off and landings to be sure that they come and go quietly as we travel.  We don't want to be too noisy or clumsy as we deliver special gifts on Christmas Eve.

You know there is Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, and Vixen.  Can you name the other 5 reindeer?  Do you need some help?  Here is a little hint: C - C - D - B - R.  Good luck!

The 5 other reindeer are: Cupid, Comet, Donner, Blitzen, and Rudolph the red nosed reindeer.

Preparing For The Christmas Season 2010

Ho Ho Ho!

I am so happy that fall is in the air.  The reindeer all seem to know that Christmas will soon be upon us and they are getting excited to make the "Ride Around The World" this year.

This week they are all being visited by the North Pole veterinarian to have their annual checkups to be sure they are all as healthy and strong as they can be prior to leaving the North Pole on December 24th!  They have been exercising especially well in preparation of our long flight and they should all pass their checkups with flying colors!  Rudolph's red nose seems to get just a little bit brighter each year about this time with the excitement and anticipation of another Christmas season.

We did take a quick test flight over the Rocky Mountains this week - what a marvelous sight it was to see all of the ripe orange pumpkins ready for harvest in the luscious green fields below!  Our test flight went well and without a hitch - I believe we are almost ready to load the sleigh with gifts for boys, girls, and even pets that are on Santa's Nice List this year!  You will want to be on Santa's list this year, won't you?

Well, Santa is needed over at the Reindeer Barn so I need to sign off for now.  Be your best and we will visit you sooner than you can imagine . . .
